We met on a sleepy Sunday morning at Sam Houston Park. She was so nervous, saying that she HATED having her photo taken so I told her to just put it out of her mind. We would pretend we were two girlfriends, at the beautiful park having a good time, only one of us has a camera...She shyly asked if it was okay if she took off her shoes, I laughed and said "of course! get comfortable!" And so we did...we laughed and talked, I gently directed her to turn this way or that and as I got the shot I would tell her how perfect it was excitedly. She told me later how great that made her feel and that, besides fabulous photographs, is what I strive to do. If I can get my subjects into a space where they are at ease, body relaxed and comfortable the REAL comes out. The genuine smile, the sparkle in the eye...those are the moments I want to capture during a portrait session - and I do!
When the session was over I asked her to keep in touch with me as her due date was the following week and I was to cover the birth as well. Two days after this maternity session her sweet baby girl was born and I was there for it all, sooooo lovely and amazing!
